Bringing Hope to Young Lives

Since 1997 east to west exist to bring hope to young lives working across Surrey, Hampshire, London and Windsor meeting the needs of vulnerable and at risk children, young people and families experiencing wellbeing and mental health needs.

east to west have pioneered a relational approach to support which puts those we serve at the heart of our provision and response.

We are committed to working with children, young people and families for as long as they need, ensuring they are given the skills and techniques they need to better understand and manage the challenges they face.

Our 6 key ethos words

A love of having FUN

Due to the fact that life is often too busy and serious, and the need so overwhelming and heart-breaking, east to west is committed to sharing fun and laughter together.

Team meetings and times with partners, stakeholders or children, young people and families should be places where we can enjoy each other's company and not take ourselves so seriously that we forget that we are all "works in progress."

A desire to be COMMUNITY

east to west is committed to relationships, to participation and to partnerships. Strong and selfless relationships with children, young people, families, partners and stakeholders are essential; for it is the quality of relationships that binds together and strengthens our work and life together.

Our desire to be in relationship will mean that we journey with people and communities for the long term, seeking to invest not simply through good practice but also through sharing our lives. It is by sharing our lives together that we are known to each other and by the children, young people and families that we are seeking to serve.

A commitment to be DEVOTED

If east to west is to be community, relational and selfless, then by default it must be devoted to its mission and purpose.

This isn't management speak to make people work harder for less- our commitment has to be intrinsically within us in order that we are devoted to those we serve- not seeing our commitment as time-bound.

That is why, whenever possible, we don't have an end date or an exit strategy on projects- we're committed to being here for as long as those we serve want us around.

This means that we will work towards seeing a selection of positive outcomes with those we support and even through we may close our file it means we never fully sign off on a child, young person or parent. Whilst levels of support may decrease our devotion demands that we are there standing with children, young people and families whenever they need us.

A knowledge that we need to be SELFLESS

Being selfless doesn't mean that we work 24/7, it means that we put the needs of others first.

Through putting children's, young people's and family's needs first, and not our own personal gain, we will be able to meet more accurately their needs, answer their questions and support them in their choices.

Being selfless means that we will go the extra mile to seek the right outcome for them, not just fulfil the task.

A commitment to operating with INTEGRITY

east to west doesn't seek to hide or compromise its key motivation of faith in Jesus Christ, we are unapologetically a Christian community.

Being a Christian community with a commitment to integrity means that we will hold ourselves to high standards.

Though we can't always account for human or technical error we will always deliver on what we say we'll deliver and be who we say we'll be.

Our yes will mean yes and our no will mean no. This means that our partners can have confidence in us, knowing that we'll strive to deliver through our ethos and relational approach. We will always be transparent in our our work and accountable to all for that we do and who we are.

A response that is COMPASSIONATE

east to west is driven by compassion to build relationship that will offer hope and transformation. All our team are part of the east to west community because our heart and gut-felt response is one of compassion.
