where, through working in partnership with the church and the local police the Hope of Christ will impact marginalised and disaffected young people in our community. This is a ministry about being and speaking the message of Hope, a message of restoration and purpose of liberation and transformation. This is a Gospel that you could be called to deliver

Position Details

REPORTING TO:                      Director of east to west

CONTRACT DURATION:       1st September 2008 – 31st August 2011

HOURS:                                      37.5 hour week, flexibility required to respond to outworking of role

SALARY:                                     £18,000 - £24,000  (Dependant on qualification and experience)

AREA:                                          Egham Hythe

General

  • To pioneer and deliver pastorally responsive youth work in partnership with the Egham Police Constabulary and Egham Hythe and Egham Churches
  • To partner with and to support Egham Hythe & Egham Church's with outreach youth work
  • To be based out of the Egham Police Station 4 day’s per week and 1 day at The east to west Trust office
  • To be a member of and to work within the ethos and procedures of The east to west Trust
  • To be a member of an Egham Hythe or Egham Church

Specific Responsibilities

To pioneer and deliver pastorally responsive youth work in partnership with the Egham Police Constabulary and Egham Hythe and Egham Churches

  • To pioneer a role offering planned or responsive pastorally focused interventive work with the young people who come to the attention of the Egham Police Constabulary
  • To invest into the lives of the young people who come to the attention of the Egham Police Constabulary, seeking to be a constant supporter of and to provide positive outcomes for those young people
  • To provide support, training and momentum to the established police youth initiatives in Egham and to help pioneer new opportunities
  • To be an active member of the Runnymede JAG, CIAG, Runnymede Single Group for Service to Young People

To partner with and to support Egham Hythe and Egham Churches with outreach youth work

  • To provide opportunities for members of the local church to engage in the ministry
  • To be an interface between the local church and the local youth need and to empower the local church to be able to connect into and to impact that need
  • To provide support, training and momentum to the local churches youth outreach initiatives in Egham and to help pioneer new opportunities
  • Establishing an Area Prayer Support Network, with monthly meetings
  • Being a member of Churches together in Egham Hythe


    Development of role

    • Through supporting and liaising with all partners.
    •  Possible replication to other areas through the promotion of the role
    • To gain on going training and development through east to west
     

Objective setting & reporting

  • Yearly targets will be set and monitored and reviewed monthly at line management meetings and termly through appaisals
  • Report on progress (verbally) to the Director and data recording outcomes weekly

Person specification

General:

  • Project leader
  • Self motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with young people, leaders and supporters
  • Motivator of team as well as a team player 
  • Networker and Facilitator
  • Excellent oral communicator
  • Competent IT Skills
  • Willingness to learn and to undertake required qualifications

Specific to work:

  • Qualified to a JNC level 2 with a minimum of 5 years relevant and tranferable experience
  • Passionate and skilled in supporting vulnerable, marginalised or disaffected youth
  • Passionate about empowering the local church to engagement with young people
  • Highly relational and can build rapport and confidence
  • Able to work 1-2-1
  • Able to work in group setting
  • Devoted
